The poll on the question of raising a loan of £260,000 for the installation of electric power and lighting in the Horowhenua district took place on Tuesday and was carried by 973 votes to 26. The number of votes east was wtihin one of 1,000 or one-third of the total on the roll, which must he regarded as a very fair percentage, specially so when the chances of the proposal being carried were regarded so favourably. The opponents of the scheme numbered 26. The Levin borough registered the heaviest vote, 228 for and six against, whilst in the Levin booth was cast the votes of 170 ratepayers from different parts of the county. The Otaki borough also polled well, 117 for one against, but neither Shannon (76) or Fox ton ( 77) evinced much interest in the poll, as their figures indicate. On the other hand Paraparaumu for «. small centre did exceedingly well to have 77 votes polled for the proposal, with a solitary objector, and Paekakariki, Waikanae, Te Hoz-o and' Tokomaru have also done well. The results must give a good deal of satisfaction not only to the supporters of the scheme x throughout the Horowhenua Power Distriet, hut to Air G. A. ' Alonk (chairman), Air Overton (engineer) and members of the Power Board who have worked so well to achieve the results obtained. Following are the votes east at the various booths:
