THE HEMP MARKET
HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE.
The High Commissioner’s cable, dated 12th insit., reads“ Hemp, manila market, firm with more inquiries, ‘.J’ grade, August-October shipment, sold up to £32 ss; ‘G’ quoted at £34 10s; the value of August-October shipments ‘H’ £33 15s, output Ist January 31st July, 694,000 bales against 435,000 for the same period last yeai*. Stocks 31st July, 11,619 bales, compared with 40,1.72 on Ist January. New Zealand market firmer with more enquiry from consumers, but practically no business transacted; high points, August-October shipments, quoted £33, fair £3l 10s; stocks 31st July, 311 tons, compared with 564 Ist January.
