A CABARET EVENING
Our representative was plodding his way homewards through the rain last night, when, on passing the Town Hall his ear caught the sound of a familiar air. His curiosity, being aroused he peeped inside the hall, and on entering the hall proper, thought he had entered fairyland. On the screen was being portrayed a vivid, living drama, while to the tune of the air that had caught his ear somewhere about forty couples were gracefully enjoying a- delightful waltz, and others were sitting round watching the enjoyment of the dancers with one eye while the other eye was endeavouiing to watch the picture. Others again were sitting at the entrancing little tables which, with the table cloths, looked very inviting. These people, on investigation, were partaking of supper in the midst of the gaiety. The delicately tinted' lights which gave ample light for dancing, gave the whole floor downstairs a very picturesque appearance and in no way detracted from the entertainment of the folk in the circle who for once had crowded the front row determined not to miss one particle of the enjoyment which seemed to predominate throughout the whole evening. Our representative was given to understand that if it was desired an effort would be made to repeat the evening next Wednesday. The whole affair was conducted with decorum and should attract a large number if repeated.
