The monthly meeting of the local advisory committee of the Aar Funds Council, lapsed on Thursday evening for want of a. quorum.

Di's. Wyllie and Rowley and Mr J. Banks, were elected members of the Foxton Chamber of Commerce at Thursday night’s meeting. The local Chamber of Commerce at Thursday night’s meeting, passed a vote of sympathy to the relatives of the late Mr Thos. Henderson.

In response to a protest made at Thursday night’s Chamber of Commerce meeting, the Mayor stated that the footpaths in Main Street would be repaired next week.

The Rev. Thos. Halliday, who came from Auckland to conduct the funeral service in connection with the late Mr Thos. Henderson, was the guest of Mr William Ross. Although the number of birds and animals in the London Zoo was much higher last year than in the previous year, the cost of upkeep lias fallen remarkably; provisions which cost £10,505 in 1020 were £7OO cheaper last year. The funeral of the late Mr Thos. Henderson took place yesterday afternoon. An impressive service was held at the Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Thos. Halliday, who came down from Auckland to pay a tribute of respect to the memory of deceased and to conduct the funeral. He referred to the late Mr Henderson’s life and character, dwelling particularly on his devoted service to the Church. Among those present were representatives of local bodies and prominent townspeople, together with the relatives of deceased. Included among the many floral tributes were wreathes from the Borough Council and School Committee. A* number of residents accompanied the remains to the Palmerston Cemetery, where the interrment took place.
