WEDDING.

JEWELL—BARBER. A wedding which created a good deal of local interest was celebrated in All Saint’s Church, Fxton, yesterday at noon, by the Rev. Walton, vicar. The contracting parties were Cecil Verne, third son of Mr W. T. Jewell of Marotiri, and Stella Russell, second daughter of Mr and Mrs W. E. Barber of Motuiti. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in a becoming cream gabardine coat frock, handsomely embroidered, with hat to match and earned a bouquet of camlias, winter roses -and daphne. The bride was attended by her sisters, Aliss Rena, as chief bridesmaid who wore a peacock blue gabardine coat frock, with floral touches, black hat trimmed to match and earned a bouquet of jonquils and primroses; and Aliss Elsie as flower girl, attired in maize crepe de chine embroidered with blue floss, black hat trimmed' with forget-me-nots, and carried a posy of primroses. Mr Harold Jewell officiated as best man. The bride’s mother wore a silk embroidered grey costume with ■black hat trimmed with fruit and carried a bouquet of violets; bridegroom’s mother was attired in a fawir coat-frock stitched with silver, pale blue hat trimmed with flowers and carried a bouquet o! yellow jonquils. As the bridal party left the church they were showered with confetti and good wishes. The wedding breakfast was held at the residence of the bride’s parents at Motuiti, where a large gathering of relatives and friend- were entertained and (ho usual toasis and felicitous speeches were made. The bridegroom's present to ilie bride \jms a gold wristlet watch and to the bridesmaid an ivory-back hand mirror and to the flower girl a gold bangle. The bride’s present to the bridegroom was a travelling rug. "The display of useful and handsome presents was an evidence of the popularity of the hnppv couple. The bride’s travelling dress was a nig-ger-brown coat- frock with brown hat trimmed with fruit.
