ROYAL PICTURES.
A distinct departure from the usual type of picture in which Katherine MacDonald is starred is “Stranger than Fiction” at the Royal on Friday night. Different in the sense that it combines all the' elements of humour, pathos, suspense and appeal in addition to the other values of the histrionic work of he scheen’s most beautiful woman. Mis- MacDonald plays the part, of Diane Drexdl, wealthy society girl, whose social career is voluntarily interrupted one evening when she decides that she will take an active part in running down the Black Heart gang —a hand of crooks who have looted the guests at the Drex(4 home of all their jewels. A pleasing feature of “Stranger than Fiction” is the fact that Wesley Barry is a prominent member of the supporting cast. He has the part of a little street urchin who, through his pathetic whimsicalities appeals to the society girl. Incidentally Freckles looms large in the climax which comes when his benefactress and her fiance are trapped in the dm of the Black Hear.' Gang. Extra “Fantomas.” ,'n extraordinary attrncton is promised for next Monday. Singing and Pictures.
