FOOTBALL COMPETITIONS.

SENIOR. Shannon 16, Weraroa 0. JUNIOR. Weraroa v. Rovers—postponed. THIRD GRADE. Weraroa v. Shannon —Weraroa won by default. Training Farm 8, Te Horo 3. FOXTON SENIORS BEATEN. More than usual interest centred in the Foxton-Hui Mai senior game on Saturday on account of the close positions they occupy in the championship, the seaside team only being a point ahead. The heavy rain of the previous two days made the Manakau ground very heavy, and the ball was difficult to handle. Under these conditions back play was largely at a discount, and the game resolved itself into a hard slog among the forwards: The only score of the day went to Hui Mai, who did most of the attacking. The play was in Foxton’s twenty-five when the ball was kicked into the air clear of the nick. Johnstone judged the ball nicely, and njeed up to take it on the full, and going on scored a good try. The goaling kick was successful, and Hui Mai led s—o.5 —0. The rest of the game was stubbornly fought out, and although the Greens looked like adding further seoi-es, they failed to add the finishing touch. Play ended without change in the score, Mr Burrows, of Shannon, was referee. WIN TV!!! JUNIORS. Tic Foxt on-Wanderers junior gam > was played mi ti e Levin Domain on a heavy ground. The conditions suited the Wanderers, whose forwards had a big pul! over their ■ pponenls. and in the second spell especially had much the best of the play. Tin J\ xton junior- have tierformed well so far this season On dry grounds, and play a good open game. The Wanderers, however, were at home in the heavy going, and Moody, Bell and Terry scored tries, whilst McGregor put up Foxton’s only score. Wanderers thus won bv 9 to 3.
