SAVINGS BANK OFFICER’S ' LAPSE. Dunedin, Last Night, Edward Hedley Kitchener Hughes, aged 24 years, a Government Savings Bank officer, was committed for sentence for the theft of £I,OOO to-day. Defendant, in a statement, admitted he had retained and cashed a Aeque and after using £2OO to make up moneys previously tampered with, he put the remaining £BOO into a business at Woodside, where he was arrested.
