ST. MONICA’S GUILD.

ADDRESS BY DR. WYLLIE. Dr. Wyllie gave a very interesting address to the girls of St. Monica’s Guild last night in All Saints School room. He confined his remarks chiefly to the principles of First Aid. In dealing with the subject fife stressed the importance in cases of accident to first of all remove the crowd, which invariably collects from around the injured so as to allow the patient plenty of air. One common mistake was to endeavour to place* ihe sufferers on their feet. They should on the other hand he encouraged to lie down. He explained the different treatment for hemorrhage from a vein or an artery and mentioned the symptoms of shock and the various remedies to be applied. In cases of drowning Dr. Wyllie explained a simple but effective method of artificial respiration. He also dealt breifly with eases of poisoning and explained remedies to be applied for non-ir-ritant and also corrosive poisons. At the conclusion of the address Mrs Walton thanked the doctor on behalf of.the girls for his most interesting and instructive talk!
