LOVE AND DEATH
STRANGE FUNERAL EPISODE,
Amazing scenes marked a funeral which has taken place at Foleshill, Coventry. Following an altercation between two women, the coffin, which contained the body of a man, was unscrewed as it rested .qji a bier near the cemetery gates. The lid was raised and the two a - omen caressed the body and bade it\ a. tearful farewell. The coffin was then closed and both women joined in the funeral procession. They attended the service in the cemetery chapel, and were present ai the graveside. The service was conducted by the Rev. IV. Dore Rudgard, rector of Longford, Coventry. “This regrettable incident,” Mr Rudgard said subsequently, “happened outside'the cemetery gates, and therefore, I knew nothing about it until afterwards. Certainly I should never have permitted the unscrewing of the coffin had I been present. I have never before heard of such a remarkable course being followed.”
