Carterton, Last Night,
Tiie “Daily News” special representative reported that at 5 o clock to-night that the young man E. J. Kirne died at the Mount Alfa hut at 7 o’clock on Thursday evening, six hours after he was found. Mr F. W. Vosseler brought the body to the Tauherenikau but, and left there at 1 p.m. arriving at \\ oodside at 4.35. The body was taken to Greytown, where an inquest will he held. The rescue party have *ll arrived back at Greytown. A message received yesterday from Wellington said: —The missing Tarania tramper, Air E. J. Kime, was found yesterday by a search party, sheltering under a rock near the spot where he parted from his mate, Air Bollons, on Saturday morning, two hours beyond Alpha hut, slightly off the track. He is in better condition than Mr Bollons, and it is hoped to have him in Greytown to-morrow at noon.
A later Carterton message said: — Mr Kime was found yesterday afternoon by Mr F. W. Vosseller, within 20 minutes of the top of Mount Hector. He was alive and considering his privations and exposure was well. He was on the sunny side of the mountain, the locality known as the beehives. He had plenty of food, but. no blankets or covering except bis ordinary clothes. Word was brought into Greytown by Mr G. B. Brown. Ah- Vosseller and Mr Kime spent the night in Alpha hut. They will reach Woodside to-day and take the train to Wellington. [Details of Bollon’s experience are published on the fourth page.]
