APRIL WORKING,

The amount of gas manufactured during the month of April was 551,200 e.ft. which with the amount in. the holder on April Ist, 7,500 ft made a total of 558,700 ft. During the month 448,200 ft. of gas was used by consumers, 23,800£t in street lamps, 31,000 ft at the works and there was 7,900 ft in the holder on May Ist, making a total of 511,500 ft and leaving 47,200 ft representing 5.4 per cent, unaccounted for. Forty- nine tons of coal were carbonised. during the month yielding 11,24S e.ft. to the ton. The earning, for the month totalled £2BO 5.s 9d and was made up as follows: —Gas Sales (lighting) £127 16s 9d; Heat and power £lls 14s 3d; Coke sales £l9 2s 6d; Tar •sales £2 19s Od; Fittings £l3 13s 9d; Labour fittings. 18s 0d; miscellaneous 1/-, a total of £2BO 5s 9d. The expenditure for the month totalled £4lB 3s sd, and was made up as follows Coal £126 7s 6d; salaries, wages etc. £64 5s 2d; Services 4s sd; Fittings £2O 12s lid; Repairs (plant) £7 17s 3d; Engine repairs £1 9s 3d, Tools £2 2s 6d; Freight, etc., Retorts, £9O 7 S lOd; Working Expenses £3 7s 6d; Cartage 7s 9d; Capital expenditure, new meters £4l 9 S 8d; Interest and sinking fund,£s9 11s 8d; a total of £4lB 3s sd.
