ROAD FOREMAN’S REPORT

The Borough road foreman repor ted as follows :

During the month the road staff has been engaged on the following works: —Meowing and cleaning the Triangle (Main St.) removing wire netting and replacing fences; repairing culvert, Russell St.; putting in culvert for Mr W. Searle, Purcell St.; carting and spreading metal on Moutoa road and Union St.; weeding water-channels and footpaths, Main, Clyde and Liddell Sts. and Ravensworth Place; cleaning sand drift from cuttings and replacing fences Johnstone and Futter Sts.; and general maintenance work. Whyte Street having become badly rutted we repaired same with brick rubble from Gas Works and blinded same with metal and this should now stand well. Metal from the County is now coming to hand at the new dump, Lady’s Mile, and this will be used for repairing roads as required. Work for the month will include repairing fences along drains in Johnstone and Russell Sts. and also fence along the river bank, Harbour St., cleaning remainder of water channels and general maintenance.
