AFTER MANY YEARS.
A FORGERY CHARGE. Christchurch, May 31. A case of forgery occurred nearly twenty-two years ago, and which came before the Magistrate’s Court to-day when William Withers, a middle-aged man, was charged on the information of the Inspector of Machinery with having committed forgery on 6th October, 1900, by altering a duplicate, engine-driver’s certificate by substituting his own name for that of a brother. Accused pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence.
