THE LABOUR PARTY.
According to a Palmerston exchange, there appears to be a split in the ranks of the Labour Party - in reference to the selection of a candidate to contest the Palmerston seat. Mr P. T. Robinson, signing himself “Secretary,” writes as follows to the “Manawatu Times”: — “The Palmerston North branch of the New Zealand Labour Party have been advised by the National"” Executive <>K the N.Z. Labour Party that they have ordered a fresh selection ballot to be held, to choose the candidate to contest the Palmerston North seat at the next general election.”
In reference to the above, Air Christensen stated emphatically to .a “Manawatu Times” representative that he was the official selected candidate, and would go to the poll ' in the interests of the N.Z. Labour Party. He stated that, as far as he could judge, sectarian and other influences were at work to create a division.
