v YOUNG GIRLS MUST BE PROTECTED. Christchurch, May 11. ' At the Supreme Court, Charles Brice, for indecently assaulting and attempting to carnally know - female fourteen years of ag% was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment with hard labour on each eouut, the sentences to run concurrently. His ‘ Honour said that the sentence was <i not merely intended as punishment for the crime committed by prisoner, but also, to show med of similar inehnatiohs, particularly those who were not averse to using violence to accomplish their ends, that the Court was there to vindicate the ' purity of young people and protect young, girls.' v
