BOWLING.

A gala day was. held on the local green yesterday, when visitors were present from Palmerston 'North Club, (three rinks), Levin Club (two rinks), Manawatu Club (one rink). The home Club was represented by four rinks. The weather conditions were ideal, and a most enjoyable { time was spent. The grounds presented a very animated appearance, A .there also being a number of nonplaying visitors (present including a fair number of ladies. Tait, Harris; Pollock (s), 22. Foxton: Follas, Walker, Huntley, Nye (s), 11. A tasty afternoon tea was provided, which was fully appreciated. { At ,the conclusion of the play, Mr *R. Bryant, president .of the local club, expressed pleasure, at the presence of so many visitors, and said he trusted they had thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The conclusion of the present season being at hand, precluded any further visits this season, but, he hoped next season would bring'many more such visits. Mr Pickering, on behalf of the visiting teams, expressed, appreciation of Foxton’s hospitality, and - said that visiting Foxton green was “like coming home,? as they always found a hearty welcome and a good time awaiting them. Three cheers were then given for the local club, concluding with “For They are Jolly Good Fellows.’’ t , s V . Foxton returned cheers for the visitors, and combined ebqiers were given for the ladies for supervising the afternoon tea.
