The president and Messrs Hornblow and Perreau were appointed to act in conjunction with the Levin and Marton Chambers re agitation for; connecting up the Maiin Trunk Line between Marton and Levin. ■ The minutes of the N.Z. executive meeting were held over. It was decided to pay the Chamber’s proportion of cost re railway deviation commission, £lO, and to notify the Levin Chamber to this effect. .‘ • AecQunts to £l3 12s 0d were passed for payment. The question of urging county settlers to link up with the Foxton telephone exchange and information in connection with same, was held over till next meeting. The Mayor moved that concerted action be taken by Chambers to induce the associated banks to reduce bank interest in conformity with the Home reduction. The motion was carried. On. the motion of Mr 1 Hornblow, a motion was carried unanimously supporting the Government in opposing ’the P. and T. Association affiliating with the Alliance of Labour. The Chamber accorded its hearty support to the scheme of seven days continuance training for territorials and senior cadets as outlined by Captain Mead and in lieu of the present night parades and recommended that the first period of training for Foxton be in July.
