DESTRUCTIVE FIRE AT SHANNON.

,/ ■ POUR SHOPS DESTROYED. A destructive fire occurred at Shannon on Thursday morning, re- , suiting in the complete demolition of four shops. The outbreak is supposed to have occurred in the premises of Mr A. Burr, tobacconist, and spread to the tea-rooms of Mrs Cnakley. and the shops of Messrs T. Watterson (plumber), and Tliwailes (chemist), all of which were destroyed. The buildings were owned by Mr Patrick Gill, Mr A. Burr, Mr John A. Roach, and Mr T. Watterson. The. State Fire Office hold the following insurances : —Mr P. Gill’s building and billiard tables, £1,400; Mr A. Burr’s tobacconist’s shop and fittings, £250; Mr J. A. Roach’s shop' £350 and bakehouse £200; Mr T. Wat-terson’s building £3OO. and furniture £l5O. The premises of the Shannon Meat Company were with difficulty saved.
