BOWLING

A meeting of the Committee of / the Bowling Club was held on Thursday evening.

It was* decided that the caretaker's services be dispensed with next week, and that howlers desiring to continue playing until the green is finally closed prepare their own rinks. The question of closing the green was deferred until a future meeting-..

The matter of giving the green periodical attention during the closed season was discussed, and it was decided that if the green were cut at fortnightly intervals and p Worm-easts levelled the green would he improved for next season's play. To this end members will be asked to assist, and teams of three will be arranged for each fortnight of the period, and definite dates- allotted. It is anticipated that members will readily fall in with this arrangement for their mutual benefit.

A match in the Wilford Cup competition was played by Roore and D. Whibley on Wednesday, the result being Whibley 19, Roore 16.

The secretary, of the local club has received intimation that a gala day will be held on the Foxton green on Wednesday next, when teams representing the Palmerston North, Manawatu, Terrace End, Shannon, and Levin Clubs will be present.
