BEAUTIFYING SOCIETY

A meeting of the local Beautifying ’.Society was held jn the Presbyterian Schoolroom on Monday evening, presided over by Mr Perreau. It was decided to obtain an estimate for paths and steps in the old cemetery and concrete bases for seats. It was decided to-write to the Borough ! Council setting out the improvements to -be effected in this reserve and asking the Council to favourably consider the-erection of a rest room. Mr Perreau reported that the attempt to acquire a further two acres of land to be added to Easton Park had fallen through. Resolved that the name of the old cemetery , be changed to“lhakara Gardens” and that the. Borough Council be notified to adopt same. t It was pointed out J,hat. members

subscriptions were due and l should *be paid on or before the annual meeting.. Mrs McMurray was asked to report on number of plane trees needed for Park St. It was decided to obtain the consent of Mr Chas. Easton for transfer of old eannon from Mrs Jonson to be placed in one of the reserves. The fixing of the date for annual meeting was left in the hands of the treasurer.
