EASTER HOLIDAYS.

The weather on this coast for the Easter holidays was not all sunshine. Ou Thursday and Good Friday morning, rain fell in torrents, and upset the outdoor arrangements j and excursions of a number of people. The -weather improved on Friday afternoon, and remained fine but overcast until yesterday. A large number of people took advantage of the railway excursions north and south. The races at Feilding yesterday also attracted a fair attendance from this district, while “others attended the Mardi Gras at Levin. Thei-e were no local attractions, and Foxton presented a very quiet appearance.

There was not the usual number of visitors at the seaside during the week-end.

On the Napier side of the Island the weather was glorious. A local . motor touring party who went thro- • ugh to Napier on Thursday, we are informed, were accompanied by heavy rain until a few miles past Dannevirke, when they came on glorious weather with bright sunshine. The roads right through to •Napier were coated with a heavy iuyer’of dust. At Hastings two exFoxtonians were met in the persons of the Rev. Mr Bredin and Mr J. Stevenson, with whom Foxton news / was exchanged and kindly greetings .-ent to Foxton friends. At Napier there was a big influx of visitors. The roads for motoring were, on the whole', in excellent order. The Gorge in particular is much improved since it has been placed under a Board of Control. The ManawatuNapier motor lour is a most enjoyable outing.
