YESTERDAY’S POLL.
CARRIED BY OVERWHELMING MAJORITY.
A poll of the ratepayers was taken yesterday re constituting the borough a Fire District under the Fire Brigades Act. The polling booth was situated in the Town Hall sup-por-room. A public meeting was held on AlVmdny evening, whei-enl the proposal was thoroughly discussed, and a resolnlion carried unanimously approving of same. Out of about five hundred names on I lie roll, only 151 recorded their votes.' The inclement weal her may have prevenfod many from turning out, .but the general feeling throughout the borough was strongly in favour of Ihc proposal, and the result of the voting gives a true indication of what won Id have obtained at a full poll.
