At the Royal tonight, “A Small Town Idol” will prove the most effective comedy that has yet come from the expert hands of the master builder of comic plots. “A Small Town Idol” achieves more legitimate honours than any Sennett comedy since “Mickey.” There is much riotous hilarity, and there is a veritable army of beautiful girls—five hundred of them .assembled in a single episode—and there * are ingenious “stunts,” thrilling escapades and wildly developed chases. The prices of admissiom will be 6d and Is Id. Kitty Gordon, who is starring in a powerful photoplay, “The Scar,” screening on Monthly, splendidly enacls a difficult role as a calculating , and relentless adventuress who deliberately sets herself out to make men her slaves, and when she has - j stripped them of wealth,''honour, and everything that men bold dear, just as deliberately casts them aside. Tn the end a terrible punishment is awarded her, but it still finds her unrepentant.
