ALLEGED THEFT AND ARSON.

SEQUEL TO FIRE AT BEACH. * MAN ARRESTED, v-Detective-Sergeant Quirke and Constables Owen and O’Donoghue executed a search warrant on the premises of George Dunn, at the local seaside, this afternoon, and found a quantity of cigarettes and confectionery " answering .the description of those stocked in Mr. Perrenu’s lean-to shop which was destroyed by/ fi re on the sth inst. Dunn was then charged with the theft, and to wilfully setting fire to the shop, and was placed under arrest. The accused made no reply in answer to the charge.

The accused appeared before Mr Hornblow, J.P., this afternoon, on Die above charges,-and on the application of the police a remand was granted til! 10 a.m. on Monday. Bail was granted accused in £2OO and •two securities of £IOO each.
