BREACH OF PROMISE CASE.
EILEEN TATE AND GEORGE WINDER. £IO,OOO CLAIMED, £BOO AWARDED. Wellington, Last Night. The breach of promise suit, instituted by Eileen Frances Tate, formerly in business in Lambton Quay as a beauty specialist, against George Winder, gentleman, seeking £IO,OOO damages, was continued before his Honour Mr Justice Hosking and a jury of twelve, of which Mr H, Leggatt was foreman, yesterday afternoon and to-day. The claim, £IO,OOO, is made up £I,OOO in respect of loss on the salep* of plaintiff’s business, £IOO in regard to expense incurred in preparing a trousseau, and £9,000 as general damages for the loss of the marriage"and injury to her feelings. Mr T. M. Wilford appeared for plaintiff, .and Mr A. Gray, K.C., and with him, Mr G. G. Watson, for the defence.
The ease has lasted several days, and created considerable interest, particularly among the fair sex, who were well represented at the sittings.
The case was concluded to-day, and the jury awarded the plaintiff ££oo and costs.
