PAKAPOO SCHOOL RAIDED.
FIVE ARRESTS MADE. Wellington, Last Night. For some time past the polipe have had under observation houses in the vicinity of Haining and Taranaki Streets in which it is alleged pakapoo was being played by Chinamen, and that white people were taking part. This form of gambling is reported to have grown to such an extent that abouL... 6.30 last evening Chief-Detective Kemp, Detectives Walsh, Holmes, and Nuttafl, and Constables Tongue, Ambrose and Thom raided a house in Taranaki Slreet and premises in Haining Street, and arrested a Chinaman in each house on a charge of keeping a common gaming bouse and with selling lottery tickets. Two white men were found in one of the houses, and one in the other. They will be charged with being found oh the premises. It is stated that a number of pakapoo tickets and paraphenalia for marking the tickets were seized in both plapes.
