MURDERER EXECUTED.
London, February 21st. The sentence of death passed upon Harkness and his wife was car-, lied out to-day by the execution of Harkness, but his wife was reprieved. [Harkness and his wife, a young couple, were sentenced to death on 31st January for murdering a Jewish shop girl, aged fourteen, for one pound and a few shillings. The husband’s brother gave evidence that the couple were desperate for money and struck the girl on the head, and put the body in the washhouse. He asked him to assist to carry the body into the Clyde.]
