BREACH OF PROMISE.

Christchurch, Feb. 21. In the Supreme Court to-day Elvira Violet Elizabeth Meachem was awarded £SO damages for breach of promise against George Richard Taylor, a motor mechanic, employed by the Postal Department. The parties became engaged- on January 13th last, and on January 17th defendant repudiated the contract, .in consequence of allegations concerning the plaintiff which were contained in an anonymous letter received by him.
