ALLEGED THEFT.
ARBUCKLE AGAIN BEFORE COURT. Wellington, Feb. 22. John- Arbuckle was again before the Court to-day charged with the theft of union funds. Counsel for the Miners’ Federation asked for a further remand to March Ist. He stated that the amount of the total charges would be considerably reduced from that mentioned previously, and counsel for the defence asked for reduced bail. Arbuckle from the box: The position is this: I can get £SOO -and no more. I could report to the police once or twice a day. The circumstances of my going to Australia can be explained later. I was not trying to run away from anything. The magistrate fixed bail at £750, with two sureties of £375, accused to report to the police once a day.
