WATER AND DRAINAGE.

~ At last night’s Council meeting -the Water and Drainage Committee reported the immediate necessity of a diaphragm pump for checking the water in the septic tank excavation.

Cr. Ross outlined the difficulty that Mr Reid was working under at present, and recommended that the pump be obtained. Cr. Smith said that while they were on the matter of water and drainage he would like a matter cleared up in connection with the engine used for the pumping. He had heard it said that the engine'was not powerful enough for the woxk, and like all the Council’s other sec-ond-hand machinery, was no good. He would like to ask if this was so.

Cr. Ross assured Cr. Smith that there were absolutely no giounds for such a statement. The engine could take five such pumps, and then not be overburdened. The report of the Water and Drainage Committee was adopted.
