Tn the report of the farewell tendered to Mr and Mrs -J. Galland, of Moutoa, recently, there was inadvertently omitted therefrom the description of the presents given by tiie residents of the district. The presents consisted of a handsome travelling rug and an eiderdown quilt. A motor car collision took place on the Ilimatangi road on Wednesday evening, between a locallyowned car and a Palmerston car, fortunately without any serious result. The collision was occasioned when both cars were passing a motor lorry. The Palmerston ear was slightly damaged.

To-night the residents of Foxton will have the opportunity of viewing drapery bargains under-favourable lighting conditions. The C. M. Ross Ooy.’s premises now nearing completion will be electrically lighted, ar:d will he the first business of the kind so lighted in the history of Foxton. As a result of being gored by a bull on Sunday last, Mr Ernet Jesse Phillips, of Phillips Brothers, farmers, Ngalea, died at the. Thames Hospital. The deceased, who was a single mail, 46 years of age, was engaged in driving the bull from a paddock on the farm at Ngntea. The bull suddenly turned and charged him, goring him severely about the abdomen. His brothers, who witnessed the accident, went to his assistance. The injured man was removed to the Thames Hospital for treatment the same afternoon.

During the month of January 131 patients were admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital. At the beginning of that month there were 68 in the institution. The Crown Prosecutor stated that Elliott was fined in 1920 for a similar offence. At Thursday’s meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board the secretary, Mr F. D. Whibley, tendered his resignation, owing to business I‘easons. The resignation was accepted with regret, and the matter of inviting applications for a successor was left in the hands of the Chairman and Treasurer.

These annuities will be subject to the sanction of the Minister.
