LEASE OF TOWN HALL.
THE Borough Council wept into committee last night in connection
with the lease of the Town Hall, and after a lengthy discussion decided to defer the question for a week. We do not know what happened, but a shot at random may indicate that a new policy iir connection with the. Town Hall is contemplated. Will the Council again provide amusement for the public by way of municipal pictures? This policy', provided interest,’ sinking fund and depreciation can be assured above working expenses, would meet with pretty general support. We do not, of course, desire to reflect upon present and past lessees of the Town Hall, or private enterprise in making this statement, but as an alternative to closing the hall for pictures it must he seriously considered in view of the fact that a large sum of money was voluntarily given to equip the building with plant for moving pictures. The public will nwait the Council’s reason for deferring tenders with considerable interest.
