BOWLING

The scores were even on the seventh (5 all), thirteenth (10 all), sixteenth (12 all), eighteenth (13 all) heads, but on the 19th head Foxton scored five, which gave them a substantial lead with only two heads to go. However, Shannon rink was almost equal to .the occasion, and notched two on the following head, making the score 18 —15 in favour of Foxton. On the last head Shannon held shot when the skips went up, and in an endeavour to cut out one of his opponent’s bowls to make a tie, Gunning had the misfortune to strike the jack, giving the shot to the home team, and with his last ball Nye drew another, making the final scores: Foxton 20, Shannon 15.
