GAS WORKS.
NOVEMBER WORKING. During the month of November 493,900 ft. of gas was manufactured, which, with the amount in the holder on the Ist November, 8,700 ft., made a total of 502,600 ft.; 416,000 ft. were used by consumers, 22,500 in street lamps, 24,000 at the works, and there was 8,000 ft. in the holder on Ist December, leaving 32,100 ft., representing 6.5 pes cent., unaccounted for. Fortyeight tons of coal was carbonised, yielding 10,290 c. ft. to the ton, and producing 16 tons 1 cwt of coke. There were 149 tons of coal in hand on the 31st November. The earnings for the month totalled £337 11s 7d, and were made up as follows: —Gas sales, lighting £l2O 10s Id, heat and power £lO3 6s 2d, coke sales £45 13s 7d, tar sales £32 10s, fittings £lB 18s Id, services £lO 3s 2d, labour services £l. 10s, labour fittings £1 ss, miscellaneous £3 15s 6d, a total of £337 11s 7d. The expenditure for the month totalled £335 14s 3d, and was made up as follows: —Coal £ll9 Is lOd, salaries and wages £6B 14s 3d, labour services £5 4,s 9d, labour fittings £2 8s Od, services £l7 7s 3d, fittings £lO 16s Od, mains (labour) £2 15s-, tools.£2 9s 6d, plant (capital) holder connection £2 12s 9d, and manager’s house £ll 12s Id, Repairs: Coal shed £2 6s 9d, gas bag £1 8s Od, stokehouse roof £5 4s Id, retorts £3 5s 4d, printing and advertising £ll 10s 2d, cartage and freight £2 17s Bd, working expenses £6 5s sd, sundries 3s 9d, interest and sinking fund £59 11s Bd, a total of £335 14s 3d.
