HIGH COMMISSIONER’S
CABLE
The High Commissioner’s cable, dated 23rd instant, reads:— Hemp market firmer tone in sympathy'with improvement in price of Mexican sisal, owing to Mexican Government having imposed export tax, and also reports of prominent shipper stopped sales to Continent for present; current white now quoted £4O. African sisal also firmer. Good business done Manila; in absence of offers price nominal: j grade, Deccmber-February shipment quoted sellers £3B. New Zealand quoted high points spot £3B, fair £36; .Tat uary-March shipment £37 10s, £36 respectively; probable havers 20s less.
