FINE HOLIDAY ATTRACTIONS

All the features to be screened at the Town Hall during the holiday season were seleefed by Mr Reid during a recent visit to Wellington. The series will open to-night with Metro’s special melodrama of the South Sen Islands, "Passion Fruit." In this absorbing story of intrigue in the tropics, Doraldina, a famous Hawaiian dancer, plays an extraordinary role. She enacts the fascinating part of Regina, child of a wealthy planter, who lias been treacherously poisoned by his overseer, Anders Ranee, who hopes lo gain Regina and the plantation. His lilans miscarry, and Regina grows interested in a young American, Lament, a victim of the rum. Ranee usurps Regina’s power, and threatens to make her his “favourite” should she refuse him. How she does a wild hular dance to save Lament, and turns the tables on Ranee make's a gripping, tense story, where brute force and a woman’s will clash for supremacy. Florence Turner and Stuart Holmes are included in I lie cast, which was transported to Hawaii to make “Passion Fruit.” A comedy special, “Johnny, Go Get ’Em,” English Gazette, “Flaming Dish” serial, and Ford Magazine, complete the programme. Prices, Is Id and 2s Id, children will be admitted to-night for 3d only.

On Monday evening (Boxing Night), what is considered 1921’s greatest production, the Universal Jewell 8-reeler, “The Devil’s Passkey,” will he offered. It offers a dramatic story of Paris,‘of the Boulevards, the theatre, and the race track, the racing scenes at Longchamps supplying most of the thrills. The story tells to what lengths some women will go in their craving for . clothes and life. The Century, comedy, “Hearts and Clubs,” and a Magazine, are supports.
