But if they have the ability Dorothy Gish’s bulldog, Mike, displays in her new Paramount comedy, “The Ghost in the Garret,” which will be the feature attraction at the Royal to-morrow, then the invasion is to be welcomed. In this picture, the bulldog is the companion of the heroine, played by-Miss Gish. He disperses a fashionable parlour party, and when his mistress is about to lie captured by thieves in a haunted house, he permits himself to be lowered from the window of the third storey to the ground, holding the end of.' a ropo made of bed sheets in his teeth! He brings help to his mistress, and when the thieves are being pursued (he bulldog is constantly in action. “The Ghost in the Garrett” is one of the best comedies in which Miss Gish has been seen this season. F. Richard Jones directed, and William E. Park heads an unusually clever supporting company. The parrot. who adds greatly to the comedy element, is an ornate bird, and it would seem, if such were possible, that she possessed a sense of humour. The bird goes through her paces at the psychological moment when they are most effective. The parrot is certainly “ a bird of a comedian,”
