WORK OF THE SESSION.

The Prime Minister, in the House of Representatives on Tuesday night, made a statement regarding the work to be accomplished before the end of the session, Sixteen Bills had been passed, and several more w er‘3 in various stages of completion. There were the following yet to be dealt with Stat- Advances Act Amendment, Savings Bank Act Amendment, Land Agents Bill, Land and Income Tax Act Amendment, Aid to Public Works Act Amendment (authorising the raising of monev for works), Expiring Laws Continuance Bill, Finance Bill (providing legislation to give effect to the Government’s economy proposals), Harbours Act Amendment Bill, Discharged Soldiers’ Settlement Bill, Land Bill, Life Insurance Bill Shops and Offices Act Amendment Bill, Housing Act Amendment Bill, and two Washing-up Bills. It was "not possible to say if Parliament could finish its work before Christmas, but the matter lay in the hands of members themselves. If they appjied themselves to work, he thought they could get through. They had 20 working days available They had 20 working days available, including one Saturday. He was not going to ask for legislation by exhaustion, or that members should sit very late. There were about o 0 other measures which had no chance. • *
