CORRESPONDENCE.
RETURNED SOLDIERS’ BALL
(To the Editor.)
Sir. —I desire to make a public protest against the so-called Returned Soldiers’ Ball. First, if it was a returned soldiers’ ball, why was it that no meeting of returned soldiers was called to arrange and sanction the function? How many returned soldiers were on the committee’? Were the words “returned soldier” used in connection with the function in order to make it a success? Would returned soldiers be guilty of such a discourtesy jts to get their programmes filled up before the dance started, and leave late-comers from the country out in the cold? If it was a soldiers’ ball, why was the surplus funds paid to the Tennis amteFootball Club when the R.S.A. could put the money to the sick and wounded fund? These, Sir, are a few questions I would like answered. Thanking you in anticipation. —Yours, etc.,
RETURNED SOLDIER
(To the Editor.)
Sir. —I would like to make a few observations in reference to cliurc bazaars. I think Parliament shoal pass a Bill prohibiting them, for tin reason that they are calculated tc prejudice friendships, and interfere with the peace and Harmony of home life. If the churches cannot be supported by voluntary free will gifts, then Christianity is at a low ebb. We are told that in old times one-tenth of our worldly possessions was given to the Lord. If this principle was acted up-so-called Christians, va u. making concerns would Ik -espised. —Yours, etc., SINNER, [WE have deleted references to “social distinctions,” etc., etc. — Ed. ll.]
