PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
The monthly committee meeting of the above was held on Thursday evening. Present.: Alessrs Barber (chairman), Chrystall, Hornblow, Thomson, Geo. Huntley, Alesdames F. Robinson, AloMurray, and Aliss Sewell. Correspondence was read from a returned soldier resident in the Wairarapa, stating that the Palmerston Society had repudiated his claims to consideration re funds, as he was in the Foxton area. It was pointed out that he worked at a mill prior to enlistment, outside the Foxton area, and it was decided to write and ask him to state his case to the president of the Alanawatu Returned Soldiers’ Association for enquiry.
Correspondence was read from (he National War Council, urging the local society to become incorporated with Alanawatu or transfer its funds to the National Council for administration. A lengthy discussion ensued, and it Was decided that the Secretary he instructed to confer with the secretary of the Alanawatu Society in reference to disposal of funds, .etc., and report to a meeting to be held early next month.
