RIFLE SHOOTING.
Last Wednesday there was a practice shoot of. 7 shots at 200, 500 and 000 yards. Pine weather prevailed, with the usual light westerly breeze, tricky at 000 yards. Efim. Hughes .made his first “possible” at 200 yards. Scores were as follows: —J. Rider 31 —31 —27 89; N. Hughes, 35-29—24—88; F. Daniels, 30 —30 —22 —82.
On Saturday a practice shoot at 500 yards was held. Attendance was again low. The day was tine, light strong, with a light, puffy breeze from the left. Two good scores were made, but shooting generally was patchy. Following were the scores: —
The Linton Rifle Chib have accepted Saturday next, 20th inst., as the date of their match with the local Club. Conditions will be 10 shots and sighter at 500 and 000 yards, ten men a side. Refreshments will be provided during the afternoon. The local team will consist of the following:—Messrs A. and C. Barnard, Cull, Frankland, H. Hamer, Head, Hughes, Mclvegney, Rider, and W. Symons. It is requested that as many as possible of the above members be retfdy to shoot at 1.15 p.m. next Saturday, as two targets will be used, and members will require to take turns at marking.
