HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY,

A Committee meeting of the abovc was held on Thursday night. Present : Mr W, Renton (president), Mesdames Renton, McMurray, Symons, Procter, Moore, Head, Pearson, Miss Speirs, Messrs Rev. Walton, Jno. Ross, Poole, Patterson, Henderson, and the Secretary (Rev. T. Ha Hi day). Correspondence of a formal nature was read and dealt with.

It was decided to ask Mr Macrae to judge pot plants and cut blooms; Mr Gnlland to judge school gard- . ens and cottage gardens, and Mr Jack woodwork.; school work, Mr 11. Gabites; modelling, Mr Gnlland.

A letter was received from Dr. Mnndl, tendering his resignation as vice-president, on account of leaving the district. —The resignation was received with regret, and it was resolved to thank Dr. Mnmll for past assistance to the Society, and to convey Ihe Society’s best wishes for his future.

The following stewards were appointed:—Pol plants, Mr D. Wliibtey; cut blooms and novice class, Mesdames McMurray and Moore; roses, Mrs C. H. Symons; sweet peas, Miss Signal; fruit and vegetables, Mr T. Henderson; dairy produce, cookery, and home industries, Miss,Speirs; fancy work and school sewing, Mesdames Patterson, Pearson and Miss Nye; decorative. Misses Nevlon and Ross; school work, Mr Broad and teachers; miscellaneous, Mr Gnlland; tea-rooms, Mrs Procter, assisted by Mesdames Head and Heasman; door stewards, Messrs Henderson, D. Whibley and Bullard.

It; was (lender! that entries close at p.m. on Tuesday, 291 li inst, instead of December Ist. Messrs Poole and Patterson were appointed to count the collection of birds’ eggs. Mr Pa it arson’s offer for use of his shop for the receiving of entries and assistance in connection with same, was received with thanks.
