ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

An old man named Thomas Downham, a labourer, was found on a Palmerston footpath lying dead, on Tuesday night. Deceased, who had been medically attended, died of heart failure.

Christchurch, Nov. 15

John Loe, married, a draper, of Sydenham, died in the hospital from a gunshot wound. On returning from a shooting expedition on Sunday, he put his gun away, and when cleaning it this morning it discharged, the shot entering his breast.

During excavation work at the Prince of Wajes Park, Wellington, two workmen, David Mann and Hugh Douglas, were buried in a fall of earth, but fortunately escaped with severe braises.
