THE HEMP MARKET.

GRADING FIGURES FOR

OCTOBER

The quantities of hemp, tow and stripper-slips graded at the ports of the Dominion during the month of October were as under: —

Hemp.—The total number of bales graded was 5,293, as compared with 0,377 for the corresponding period of last year, a decrease of 1,084 bales. For the 12 months ended October 31st, the number of bales graded was 01,208, as compared with 90,948 for the previous 12 months, a decrease of 35,080 bales.

Tow. —The total number of bales graded was 1,086, as compared with 1,285 for the same month of last year, a decrease of 199 bales. For the 12 months ended October 31st, the number of bales graded was 12,954, as compared with 21,623 for the previous 12 months, a decrease of 8,669 bales.

Stripper Slips. —During the month 107 bales graded, as compared with 195 for Hie same month of last year. For (he 12 months ended October 31st, 1881 bales graded, as compared with 576 for the previous 12 months, an increase of 1,305 bales.
