MANAWATU CENTRE GALA DAY.
At the annual meeting of the centre it was decided to continue the gala days this year, and the following programme has been arranged: Wednesday, 16th November, at Shannon green, commencing at 2 p.m. —Palmerston North, 2 rinks, Manawatu 1, Terrace End 2, Foxton 2, Levin 1.
Saturday, 19th November, at Terrace End green, commencing at 2 p.m. —Manawatu 2 rinks, Palmerston North 3, Feilding 2, Foxton 1, Shannon 1.
Saturday, 19 th November, at Woodyille green, commencing at 2 p.m. —Pa Ilia Lin 3 rinks, Dannevirke 3, Palmerston North 2, Feilding 1. In each case the club where the gala day is held will fill in the balance of rinks according to the aavailable accommodation on the respective greens.
The Standard says the competition for the Dixon Cup will not commence until the weather becomes more settled, as several of the challengers have long distances to travel, with the probability of the game not proceeding.
The secretary of the Bulls Club has written, informing the secretary of the local club that owing to very bad weather, that club were again compelled to postpone the opening of their green indefinitely.
The clubs concerned in the Triangular Shield contest have decided that November 23rd is a convenient date for the first round, and it has therefore been definitely decided to set the competition down for that date. The first match will be played on the Levin green.
