BUTTER-FAT PRICES.
RECENT PAYMENTS
Recent payments made by dairy factories in the district on account of butter-fat make interesting reading. Mangawhata paid Is Od per lb., Rangiotu Is 4d, Bainesse Is 3d, and Tokomaru Is 3d. The Mangawhata factory made a good business deal when it sold the whole of its season’s output for Is !ld per 11). Rangiotu also sold its season’s output, but the market, was not then as favourable as the Mangawhata Company found it. The Bainesse and Tokomaru factories sold on the consignment basis. All fouy companies make cheese. The prices paid to suppliers for their September output by four other large co-operative factories in the district were Is 6d, Is 3d, Is 3d, and Is respectively. Last year the factories in question started the season by paying out 2s per lb. all round, for both butter and cheese. Times have obviously changed for the dairy farmer.
