ARMISTICE DAY.
TWO MINUTES’ SILENCE,
To-morrow will be Armistice Day, and in conformity with the general appeal, the Mayor (Mr John Chrystall) requests the whole community to observe a solemn silence of t wo minutes from 11 o’clock a,in. In connection with (lie above, the Mayor received a communication from the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey, forwarding a copy of a cable received from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, slating that His Majesty the King had expressed a wish that on Armistice Day there should be a complete suspension of all business throughout the British Empire and two minutes’ silenee observed, as staled above.
The Secretary of the Foxton Harbour Board also received a similar communication yesterday, requesting that any shipping at the local port be notified of the arrangement.
