Manawatu Herald SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1921. THE PRINCE IN INDIA.
THE Prince of Wales will spend exactly four months —from November 17th to March 17th —in touring through India. The programme falls into three parts. Prom Bombay he will cross India through Rnjputana, the United Provinces, and Bengal to Calcutta, devoting a week of the time to a shooting trip in the Terai as the guest of the Prime Minister of Nepal. Christmas will be spent at Calcutta, and then will come a fortnight’s interlude between the two main portions of the tour. This will be-devoted to a visit to Burma, including Rangoon and possibly .Mandalay. The voyage to Rangoon will give the Prince three days at sea, and at the close of the visit he/ will have another three days’ voyage to Madras, where the tour in India proper will be resumed on January 13th. From Madras he will go inland, to Mysore, and then will work his way northwards through India to Peshawar, the gateway to the Kliyber Pass, spending a week en route at Delhi. At Peshawar, which will be reached on March 4th, he will turn south again To embark on the Renown at Karachi, spending on the way a couple of days at Gaji’auln lo witness the pig-slicking.contest for the Ivadir Cup. On leaving India, the Prince will proceed on a visit to Japan, by invitation of the Emperor, and if he returns through the Panama Canal, lie will, when he gets back to England, have sailed right round the world.
