ROYAL PICTURES.
“The City of Beautiful Nonsense,” from E. Temple Thurston’s novel of the same name, is the title of the feature to be .shown at the Royal to-night/ It is a story of a struggling author, and a girl of good parentage, who meet in London. The girl’s father loses heavily in speculation, and a. marriage of convenience is arranged to save the family from ruin. Meanwhile the author has set his heart on the girl, and. writes to his parents in Venice, telling of his love affair. The girl’s parents forbid her to write of her author lover, hut they meet in Venice, and his parents become greatly attached to their son’s sweetheart. After a tremendous struggle, the girl decided lo put love before duty, and agrees to marry the man of her choice. Extra : Episode 3 of “The Branded Four.”
Every Hirill described in E. W. Hornung’s famous novel, “Dead Men Tell No Tales,” has been transferred to the film. The ship explosion, with all its accompanying perils and hazards, the improvised raft upon which Cole drifts about the sea for days, the wild fight at Rattray Hall, the mysterious shadower, are all faithfully portrayed in the Tom Terris masterpiece, which will be sliow’n on Friday night. No expense. was spared in making the production a mammoth spectacle. The greatest picture ever turned out by the Vitagraph Company, “Trumpet Island,” will be. shown on Saturday. ]
